Inevitably you might notice that I bring up this guy alot. So I want to address that here.
I can’t remember how, but I got turned onto his podcast, Making Sense (formerly Waking Up Podcast) back in 2016ish. And the guy was making very good points on topics that were important to me. And he was changing my mind. Take that for what it’s worth, but I could not stop my curiosity. There was a whole world of ideas I was never exposed to before that.
I think the reason I’m a bit defensive is that it seems suspect to be drawing so many ideas from one source. But you have to remember that even though I heard them on his podcast and they are ideas that he advocates, they did not all originate from him. In some sense, Sam for me is a curator of great or otherwise discussion-worthy ideas. Those ideas come from the guests he brings on his podcast.
The second reason for the Sam focus is that he introduced me to meditation. At least to meditation in the way that I currently practice. And that has had an extremely significant impact on my life.
I don’t want to be seen as some sort of fanboy. My interest is in the ideas and not the person. But it has to be said that I do aspire to conduct myself in the manner that Sam does.
I want to be a free thinker as bravely dedicated to the truth as he is.
